Job Absorption Rises in Jakarta

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the city's labor force participation rate increased by 0.72 percentage points to 65.47 percent, driven by higher female participation and supported by employment programs through 2026.

He made the statement during a press conference on the first-quarter 2026 city budget (APBD) realization at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (4/17).

"Regarding employment, I would like to note that Jakarta's labor force participation rate has increased to 65.47 percent," Pramono said.

He added that the number of employed residents rose by 48,600 to 5.18 million, indicating the city's economy is increasingly creating job opportunities.

"This shows that concerns about a potential drop in employment in the first quarter have not materialized, and instead employment has increased," he said.

The rise in job absorption was driven by three key sectors: trade, accommodation and food and beverage, and transportation and warehousing.

To sustain the growth momentum, the Jakarta Provincial Government will prepare a package of tax incentives to keep the economy on track. It will also continue expanding access to jobs through various programs, including vocational high school graduate internships, collaborative job fairs, mobile training units, and regular job training.

"We hope this positive momentum can be maintained going forward," Pramono asserted.
